do you have a myspace page?

My summer was kicked off by that question. Last week I sang at a benefit concert for a great organization- Songs For Kids. They put on concerts- both with guest performers and with patients performing- at children's hospitals around the nation. I was honored to sing and it was a lot of fun. My friend Bonnie played guitar and she recruited her friends Brandon and Max to play with us. I think we sounded good, but you never know. I was taken back, though, when the guy asked me if I had a myspace page. That's a first. And it made me want to create one.

So I finished school on Friday and now it's officially my summer, even though the calendar hasn't gotten there quite yet. It's nice to not have homework to deal with. I have this week off before I start working full time, 3 jobs. I'm still working as a dietitian at Egleston, but I'll also be working as a nurse extern at Scottish Rite and leading a therapy group at Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders. I'm also volunteering with Community Advanced Practice Nurses at a homeless teen clinic. Sounds like I've got enough going on, huh? But it's good stuff.

I also have a list of things I want to do/accomplish this summer. You know, the things that you can only do during the summer or without school:

1. Read for pleasure.
2. Finish decorating my room.
3. Learn how to have a better green thumb (currently my indoor tree is dying).
4. Go tubing in Helen.
5. Go to a rodeo.
6. Explore more of Atlanta.
7. Hike.
8. Travel (SF, Kansas City, and hopefully Seattle are on the list).
9. Catch up on some movies, and go to the drive-in.
10. Cook (more often and for more people than just me).
11. Build a stronger community here.
12. Connect with the teens at the clinic.
13. Ride horses.
14. Ride my bike more.
15. Spend more time alone and with God, intentionally.
16. Take baths (I know, that sounds funny, but I always take showers).
17. Blog more.

I'm asking myself a few questions, too.

1. Am I forming a habit of moving on from or leaving a church when it's not what I had hoped? What makes me not want to be a part of that church?
2. What is it about Atlanta, or being here, that I have been so resistant to? Why has it been a full year that I've been here and still it doesn't feel like home?
3. Where am I going next?
4. What compels me to be so involved in so many things?

Heres to a fun, productive, adventurous, and insightful summer!

If you'd like a friend for #4, I'm in! I have only been to Helen once, and it was fun! I's love to go back - especially if there is enough water that you dont have to push yourself down this time :-)
