size 13

I ordered a new pair of cleats last week because my current pair are not very cleatish anymore. No, they might as well be a stiff pair of running shoes for all the traction they provide. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the options I had because I didn't specify my size. So today, I opened up the package to find a rather large pair of women's cleats. They are most definitely not my size- a whopping 13. If I wore them to play football I'd be better off in my running shoes for sure. What a laugh they provided me tonight- I mean, what order form defaults to size 13 shoes? That's not an average size. And I definitely didn't purposely choose it.

I wonder how often that this happens. The only reason why is that I was being so very choosy as to what shoes I decided on, yet I didn't specify the known variable in my purchase- the size. How hard is that? I mean, you always have to factor in size when buying shoes. But evidently I forgot that little detail.

I think I do this in other areas of my life, yet more subtly. I let life get busy, I overlook details that should be second nature to consider, and then realize my lack of attentiveness only once I reap the consequences. And it really does have consequences. I typically think I'm fairly detail oriented so it bothers me that I've found myself in this situation twice in the past 2 weeks. I guess I need to be a little more present and a little less laissez faire.
