I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.

As much as I love city living, there's a reason I travel to suburbia and more remote places. Since I arrived in my hometown 2 days ago, multiple family members have commented that I travel too much. Prompted by those comments, I'm trying to intentionally reflect on why I travel and why I value it so much.
In the brief time here so far, I've been reminded of a few things I'm missing in my city life that were so much a part of my suburban life growing up.
-a dog in my house
-mosquitos and their bites all over me
-driving everywhere
-waking up early to feed the horses
-pushing a cart full of groceries out to a car instead of carrying them home in bags
-seeing horses out my bedroom window
-mowing the lawn
-a backyard for the dog to run around in
-house and horse flies
-hanging out at the horse barn
-leaving the car unlocked in the driveway with the keys in the ignition
It's funny how quickly you grow accustomed to your current way of life. I think one of the things traveling does for me is remind me that life as I know it now isn't the only way I have or will know it. I humbly accept my reality check.
