one night stand

This was printed on the t-shirt of a guy I passed in the airport last night. I thought it was very clever and it made me smile. This is the opposite of the reason I was in Kansas City this weekend. My friends Sush and Morgen have chosen a life together, not a lifestyle of one night stands. Sush is Indian, and I'd never been to an Indian wedding reception. I had a great time- the food was delicious, company good, and dancing fun!

I've never been to Kansas, and have only been to St. Louis in Missouri, so this visit meant experiencing a new state. It definitely had a midwest feel to it, but yet was different. I was impressed with how friendly everyone was and how engaging most were in conversation. Sush's friends Corrie and Suz hosted me this weekend and I had a great time getting to know them and their friends. Highlights of my trip:
  • Blanc- a yummy local burger and beer joint with a very friendly and conciensious wait staff along with good company at the table next to me. Everyone had suggestions of what to do and see.
  • Trufflufagous ice cream at Murray's- the best ice cream in K.C. I was told.
  • Kemper Art Museum- free admission to museums is always a plus.
  • Signs- a rediculously fun group game I learned at Krista's party. I made a lot of new friends that night.
  • Oklahoma Joe's BBQ- K.C.'s finest served in a gas station with a line out the door.
  • Spool- a quaint shop sporting local designers and a fabulous owner, Kelly, who I got to know over the course of our 20 minute conversation about K.C., what makes a place a home, and life.
  • Blue Koi- introduced Corrie to bubble tea.
  • Indian dancing- what we did a lot of at the reception.
  • Redeemer K.C.- Sush's church.
  • Ethnic Enrichment Festival- K.C. came out to taste their way around the world in Swope Park.
  • Sush and Brittany- catching up with my lifelong friends who were on my team in Ghana.
  • K.C. Airport- you can still meet people at their gates and it takes no time at all to get through security on a Sunday afternoon. Literally, there was not a person in front of me in the security line!
