Before I looked it up, though, I guess I had a bit different take on it. I was thinking that sometimes we misread our own emotions and the emotions of others. In the mix up, when we don't get it right, it can be confusing, misleading, and even destructive in the context of our interactions with others. I consider myself a person who's pretty introspective and self-aware. But every once in a while I have a desire to be emotionally dyslexic- unsure of my emotions and stuck trying to figure them out...

emotional dyslexia
I saw this term on a poster this weekend. Interesting concept, really. If you look it up, it is a term that one Helen Kramer has coined. The gist, as I understand it, is that our brain misreads stress as danger, which then inhibits our ability to react in ways that are productive and healthy- in turn we react in ways that are counterproductive and unhealthy. Stress, in and of itself, can be a positive thing.
