staying put

I'm not leaving San Francisco Bay Area for over a month.  Based on my last few months of frequent travel, that's a long time!  To continue to reflect on why I travel so much, another reason I travel is because often I give myself the okay to just "be".  I'm wired to "do"- that is, I have my hand in 20 things at one time multi-tasking with lots of activities, responsibilities, and social engagements.  I have to force myself to do nothing every so often because it just doesn't come naturally.  When I travel though, somehow it seems permissible to check out so to speak.  This is good for me, the permission to be and not do.  I've done a fair amount of that lately so it's why I'm staying put now.

Agreed 101%. During my trips I had the same feelings that you describe here. Traveling buys yourself time to spend with yourself, which is something that we denied ourself in the every day life. It's crazy but mostly of the time we don't have the time to live the life that work so hard to get. Traveling, especially when you have to drive for long time, forces you to talk with yourself, and there the most interesting thing come out.

It also gives you the possibility to zoom-ou and see the big pictures instead of the details and that's why a lot of time traveling makes us fell lucky. We are lucky, just we don't have the time to notice that because we are angry because the MUNI is late again, and also the boss drive you crazy, and

I have the feeling that a lot of time traveling gives us time to deal with those little thoughts or experience that we pushed deep in ou mind, just because we did not have time to spend dealing with them. For this reason, more than "recharging the batteries" I see traveling as "reducing the pressure".

My "New month resolution" is to learn how to get a little bit of this feelings everyday day life :)
